David showed an early interest in taking pictures being given a Kodak Box Brownie for his seventh birthday. His first job was working in a camera shop with a commercial studio and darkroom intending to study to be a professional photographer and attaining a City & Guild qualification. In fact, he spent more time serving customers in the shop learning a lot about cameras and equipment before going on to work for one of the leading distributors of photographic equipment in the UK whilst continuing an interest in amateur photography.
His subject interest is best described as varied.
