Challenge – “Landscapes”
30 December 2022 @ 19:00
The Online Challenge brief for December is as follows:
Theme – Landscapes
Entries for this theme will depict images that fall under the following description.
A fundamental part of taking good landscape photos is firstly knowing what landscape photography is. Forget the dictionary definitions as well. What really matters is how it works in practice. So, what is landscape photography, and why is it so enticingly amazing? Picture this; Have you ever been out in the middle of nowhere, surrounded by nature, without a single person around? The feeling is immense when you can look around the world, and feel like you’re a part of it — that is landscape photography.
Landscape photography is capturing an image that embodies the spirit of the outdoors. It carries a sense of being there to see something incredible. When viewers look at your work, their hearts and souls should jump. You want them to feel the same emotions that you felt, standing in the middle of nature and bringing back that loving feeling.
There are many different types of landscapes, including but not limited to:
- Coastal landscapes
- Riverine landscapes
- Arid landscapes
- Mountain landscapes
- Karst (caves) landscapes
- Urban Landscapes
Landscape photographers love to create things. They love to compose photos, edit them, print them, and show them to anyone who wants to see them. At the same time, landscape photography is about having experiences. It’s about being in the middle of nature and soaking up everything around you.
So take this information and put it into practice when you go out and capture your image for this month’s Landscape Challenge.
