Exhibition “Liquid” – Jul 2026

The “Liquid” Photography Challenge invites photographers to explore the dynamic and expressive qualities of liquids through creative photography. From calm reflections to powerful splashes, liquids bring movement, texture, and emotion into images. Participants are encouraged to capture how liquids interact with light, surfaces, environments, and living subjects. Liquid appears in many forms and environments — natural, urban, domestic, or experimental — offering endless opportunities for visual storytelling. This challenge seeks images that creatively interpret liquid as a subject, element, or storytelling device.

Participants are encouraged to create images that highlight the visual beauty, motion, or symbolic meaning of liquids. Entries should demonstrate creative observation, technical skill, or imaginative interpretation of how liquids behave and interact with their surroundings. Successful submissions will reveal unique perspectives, moods, or narratives centered around liquid elements.

• Participants may interpret the theme broadly. Possible subjects include:
• Natural Water Environments: Oceans, rivers, lakes, waterfalls, rain, mist, or morning dew in natural landscapes.
• Motion & Energy: Splashes, droplets, waves, flowing streams, or water in motion captured through fast or slow shutter techniques.
• Reflections & Distortions: Reflections in puddles, lakes, windows, or shiny surfaces where liquid creates altered perspectives.
• Everyday Liquids: Drinks, coffee, tea, juices, cooking liquids, or household water scenes.
• Experimental & Creative Photography: High-speed splash photography, colored liquids, oil and water experiments, or abstract liquid forms.
• Weather & Atmosphere: Rainstorms, wet streets, condensation, or fog contributing to mood and storytelling.
• Human Interaction: People interacting with liquids — swimming, washing, playing in rain, or working with liquids.
• Creative, conceptual, or abstract interpretations are welcome.

Rules

• Photos must be your work
• 1-year Rule Applies (images taken since January 2025)
• Maximum of Two Images per Member.
• All Images must be framed with Passe-partouts/mat of either Black or White (preferably white).

Voting

• Members of the public will be asked to vote on their favourite three images to select the top five images and respective photographers
• Images submitted will earn 5 Order of Merit points each.
• Public Votes for each image will be added together for the Annual Order of Merit for each photographer.
• New Placing system now in effect (1st – 5th places) that will earn additional points (25,20,15,10.5) accordingly.

Deadline for Entries

• The deadline for title submissions is Friday, 24th of July 2026.
• Please complete the form when you receive the e-mail.

Frame Change Thursday

• Frame Changing will take place on Thursday 30th of July, between 10:00 -12:30 
• Please ensure that you have sent your digital images before Frame Change.

Exhibition Night

• Gallery Doors open at 19:00 on Friday, 31st of July 2026
