Exhibition “Cafés & Coffee” – Jan 2026

Brief:

The photographic brief for “Cafés & Coffee” focuses on capturing coffee as both a craft and a cultural experience, highlighting the journey from bean to cup and the café as a place of connection. Images should convey warmth, authenticity, and a calm but lively atmosphere, showing baristas at work, customers in candid moments, and intimate details such as espresso extraction, latte art, steam, and textures. Café interiors, natural light through windows, and quiet moments during opening or closing hours should help create a timeless, inviting narrative that feels human rather than staged.

Visually, the style should favour natural or ambient lighting, warm neutral tones, and a mix of wide environmental shots, medium scenes, and close-up details with shallow depth of field. Composition should feel organic, using framing, negative space, and soft shadows to enhance the mood. The overall approach should avoid heavy styling or artificial colour, embracing real interactions, subtle imperfections, and consistent, understated editing to produce cohesive and emotionally resonant images.

Rules

• Photos must be your work
• 1-year Rule Applies (images taken since January 2025)
• Maximum of Two Images per Member.
• All Images should be framed with Passe-partouts/mat of either Black or White (preferably white).

Voting

• Members of the public will be asked to vote on their favourite three images to select the top five images and respective photographers
• Images submitted will earn 1 Order of Merit point each.
• Public Votes for each image will be added together for the Annual Order of Merit for each photographer.
• New Placing system now in effect (1st – 5th places) that will earn additional points (25,20,15,10.5) accordingly.

Deadline for Entries

• The deadline for title submissions is Friday, 23rd of January 2026.
• Please complete the form when you receive the e-mail.

Frame Change Thursday

• Frame Changing will take place on Thursday 29th of January, between 10:00 -12:30 

Exhibition Night

• Gallery Doors open at 19:00 on Friday, 29th of January 2026
