Exhibition “Powerful Black & White” – July 2025

Powerful Black and White is more than a theme—it’s a call to strip away distraction and reveal the soul of your subject through light, shadow, and depth. We invite members to submit works that speak boldly in monochrome, capturing moments that resonate with intensity, grace, and truth. Whether you’re drawn to stark landscapes, intimate portraits, or abstract expressions, this exhibition is your stage to showcase the power and purity of black and white imagery. Let your vision stand out—submit your most compelling work.

By definition, In photography, black and white refers to images that contain only shades of grey, ranging from pure black to pure white. This style eliminates colour entirely, focusing instead on contrast, tone, texture, shape, and light to convey mood, emotion, and storytelling. Black and white photography often emphasises the composition and subject matter more dramatically than colour images, as it strips away visual distractions and highlights the essence of the scene. It’s a timeless and powerful approach that can evoke nostalgia, drama, or stark realism.

Rules

• Photos must be your work
• New 1-Year Rule applies
• Photos must not have any colours.
• Maximum of Two Images per Member.
• All Images should be framed with Passe-partouts /Matts of either colour Black or White – (for this exhibtion, we recomend the usage of white).

Voting

• Members of the public will be asked to vote on their favourite three images to accolade the top five images and respective photographers
• Images submitted will earn 1 Order of Merit point each.
• Public Votes for each image will be added together for the Annual Order of Merit for each photographer.
• New Placing system now in effect (1st – 5th places) that will earn additional points (25,20,15,10.5) accordingly.

Deadline for Entries

• The deadline for titles submissions is Friday 18th July 2025.
• Please complete the form when you receive the e-mail. 

Frame Change Thursday

• Frame Changing will take place on Thursday 24th July between 10:00 -12:30 

Exhibition Night

• Gallery Doors open at 19:00 on Friday 25th July 2025
