Enter the “Wabi Sabi” Exhibition
As a starting point, Wabi-sabi is the beauty of things that are imperfect, impermanent, and incomplete and is a traditional Japanese aesthetic and philosophy that finds beauty in imperfection, impermanence, and simplicity.
This photgraphic challenge for the exhibition invites photographers to explore beauty in the modest, weathered, and incomplete aspects of life and objects, encouraging a deeper appreciation of authenticity and natural aging. It encourages participants to slow down and observe subtle beauty in ordinary scenes, objects, and environments that reveal the passage of time and natural imperfection.
Participants may interpret the theme through subjects such as:
- Weathered Objects & Materials: Worn furniture, cracked pottery, rusted metal, peeling paint, or aged surfaces.
- Nature & Seasonal Change: Falling leaves, fading flowers, dry branches, or landscapes shaped by weather and time.
- Quiet Everyday Scenes: Simple domestic environments, modest interiors, or still-life arrangements.
- Handmade & Imperfect Craftsmanship: Handcrafted objects showing irregularity or human touch.
- Minimal & Empty Spaces: Scenes emphasizing simplicity, emptiness, or tranquility.
- Time & Impermanence: Moments or scenes reflecting change, decay, or transformation.
- Both indoor and outdoor interpretations are welcome.

Rules
- Photos must be your work
- 1-year Rule Applies (images taken since January 2025)
- Maximum of Two Images per Member.
- All Images must be framed with Passe-partouts/mat of either Black or White (preferably white).
Voting
- Members of the public will be asked to vote on their favourite three images to select the top five images and respective photographers
- Images submitted will earn 5 Order of Merit points each.
- Public Votes for each image will be added together for the Annual Order of Merit for each photographer.
- New Placing system now in effect (1st – 5th places) that will earn additional points (25,20,15,10.5) accordingly.
Deadline for Entries
- The deadline for title submissions is Friday, 18th of September 2026.
- Please complete the form when you receive the e-mail.
Frame Change Thursday
- Frame Changing will take place on Thursday 24th of September, between 10:00 -12:30
- Please ensure that you have sent your digital images before Frame Change.
Exhibition Night
- Gallery Doors open at 19:00 on Friday, 25th of September 2026

We welcome the general public to come along and support the event, where you can vote for your favourite three entries and enjoy some interesting discussions with ambient music, a bar and free admission and the infamous “Finger Food Table” will also be available.
