Glyn Parry is an Englishman and a resident of Portugal and joined the Algarve Photography Group in 2024. A seasoned photographer with 14 years of DSLR experience, he intends and looks forward to sharing his journey, experience and opportunities for further learning, with other fellow photographers in the group.
Having owned a property in Portugal for 20 years he only moved here in 2019 and is a big fan of the Portuguese people and the way of life here which he enjoys with his wife, Carol.
Glyn is a passionate photographer, having had the opportunity to shoot many genres throughout the years, including portraiture, sports, fashion, architecture, product and landscape. Currently, I’m enjoying photographing the Algarve coastline and when the waves permit, the surf community, who are great fun to shoot off the Falésia beach in Vilamoura.
Glyn gained a diploma in photography from the Institute of Photography in 2012, as well as spending a number of years studying at a local college in Sydney but Glyn believes that field experience though counts for everything and still to this day continues learning and trying to improve and hone his photographic skills.
Having shot film for a while with a Pentax, Glyn started his digital career with Canon but was very fortunate early on, to purchase an almost new full-frame Nikon D700 and subsequently has owned a Nikon D750, D4S, D5 and D850 as well as a large range of lenses but does intend to move to mirrorless when the funds and opportunity permit.
All of Glyn’s post-processing is done with Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
Beyond the lens, Glyn loves to learn languages. English of course is his native tongue, and he is a fluent speaker of Italian, his second language. Since arriving in Portugal, he has dedicated himself to learning Portuguese and also wants to take on Spanish.
