Ruins – June 2026

This month’s Challenge was themed “Ruins”. Ruins are the remains of a building, structure, or place that has been partly or completely destroyed, often through age, neglect, natural disaster, or human activity. More broadly, ruins can also refer to something that has been severely damaged or fallen into decay.
In photography and heritage contexts, ruins are often valued for their historical significance, textures, atmosphere, and the stories they suggest about the past. The Algarve is full of such locations that include the remains of old forts, abandoned fishing structures, and historic settlements such as the ruins of Milreu Roman Ruins not to mention country houses that are no longer lived in due to theur state.

The results of this months challenge were very close and our judge had their hands full with ordering the top five. But congratulations to those who made the grade and to those who were very close.

Our Fourth Exhibition of 2026 will be Liquid which opens on the 31st of July 2026 and we very much hope you’ll come along.
